(Pittsburgh, March 7, 2022) – The Knights are excited to announce their newest esports expansion into Yu-Gi-Oh! with their first professional esports player, Gage “Nyhmnim” Poljak. Nyhmnim will be competing in both the new title, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel as well as the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.
“With the release of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and the explosion of the collectible cardboard world, all eyes are on the card game I grew up with as a kid; it’s extremely exciting! While being a Pittsburgh Knight, I hope to introduce people to my favorite pastime through competitive duels and through binders as we explore its vast collectible history.” – Gage “Nyhmnim” Poljak
“I am extremely excited to sign one of the best talents in Pittsburgh!”, says CFO, Jonathan Oh. “Our entrance into Yu-Gi-Oh! has been a project a year in the making and it’s important that we support not only the player, but also the scene as a whole. We’re excited to be one of the first founding esports organizations looking to really make an impact in this game!”
The Knights are constantly looking for opportunities to support growing gaming communities. One community in particular that has shown significant growth in popularity is Yu-Gi-Oh! with the recent launch of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. Yu-Gi-Oh! has been well established for over 20 years and Konami has recently revealed their plans to support Yu-Gi-Oh! esports through Master Duel competitions and their continued support for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. The Knights believe that Yu-Gi-Oh! will continue to grow both in popularity and in esports and the Knights want to be a contributor to this growth through signing professional players, running tournaments, and creating exciting content around the game.
The Knights have been working behind the scenes through our development with MatchBot to elevate the current Yu-Gi-Oh! experience and create a centralized place to host both Master Duel tournaments as well as ranked TCG games, all through Discord.
