April 7, 2020 (Pittsburgh, PA) – Just because live events and social gatherings are on hold does not mean there are a lack of activities for Pittsburghers to partake in this week. The Pittsburgh Knights are hosting a Rocket League Tournament on Thursday, April 9th at 6pm EST, and it’s open to anyone who wants to game, have fun, and test their skills against some of the best. Signing up for this esports tournament is free and easy, and all you need to participate is the Rocket League game – all gaming systems are welcome!
Rocket League is a popular video game that is essentially cars playing soccer. Thursday night’s competition, however, will be a fun twist on the game as all participants will play in Hoops Mode – a 1 v. 1 basketball-style game setting that alters the pitch to a court and replaces the goal nets with basketball hoops. Rocket League is a great introduction for anyone new to esports because it is easy to follow and family friendly – parents can join this competition with their kids and both new-comers to the game and hard-core enthusiasts are able to play and have fun.
This will be a friendly competition where participants will play in best of three, single elimination brackets with 7 minute matches. And, if you’ve always wondered if you’re good enough to play video games professionally, this tournament is for you – players could have a chance to go up against Knights pro players. The winner of the tournament will take home a custom Knights jersey, and even viewers will be entered to win some Knights gear.
The Knights will have top Rocket League casters providing commentary on the gameplay, and anyone who wants to catch the action can tune in at twitch.tv/knights. Additionally, gamers and fans can virtually hang out together at the Knights Discord server – sign up to join the Pittsburgh gaming community!
